A noobs advice to starting an etsy

Image result for etsyit's always been something I've suggested to people looking to start up selling their art/fashion wear.
Actually starting one yourself is pretty nerve-racking at least for me it has been.
But I've gone ahead and made one anyway

There is a lot to take into consideration

So far here are some tips for starting an Etsy from first-hand experience:

  • Find yourself a nice background, make a background for taking photos on for your products.
  • for already considered pricing of garments                                                                                     (material x time x training = don't undersell yourself)
  • Take photos of the garment from all angles, and a photo of someone in the garment.
  • Make a logo (which I'm working on at the moment)
  • Pricing for shipping:   This is important.

My adventures into making kimono's

Image result for barbie mcdonalds japanWhen I was a small kid, probably around 5 I got a collection of barbies from around the world, and my favorite one was by far the Japanese one.   This was a few years before I had even got into anime.

World fashion, in general, is something that still interests me today.

(an anime/comic book convention in Glasgow, UK) I think it must have been about 2016
I was really happy with it but like a lot of "cosplays"
I use that term loosely for me cause I'm not as active as I'd like to be.

I left a lot of it till last minute and used my friend's really tiny sewing machine (thankfully I have 2 trusty well-working machines now.

This is definitely something I am going to re-visit in the future since I've made a bit more experience making kimonos since then!

I went for a one on one class with the lovely Jennie Lööf in April of this year
she helped me make my kimono pattern, and I have since then made 4 kimonos and am looking to make more before the month is over!

The first kimono I made (I did in calico, but I made a mistake I accidentally cut out the front and the back together), but what I did to fix this was added a patch of fabric onto the back in the shape that had been cut out and I love how it works!)

An accident turns into something I can really use to make the kimonos that little bit different.
I was happy with my first step towards the making, as I just went for it, and even though the mistakes, I managed to sort them and come up with new ideas for the kimono!

I am starting up my Etsy shop today, and having some garments being made to order as well.

Latex Workshop berlin (more photos of the garment to come after it's been properly cleaned)

Been back a couple of weeks now,
I had a great time
when I was away I did a course with LatexWorkShops
The organizer was so lovely and very damn patient.

We started at half 8, doing some examples of how to bond latex, straight, on curves and doing ruffles.
How to add buttons and how to fix patches.

Then I got to make my very own paneled dress, for that I made my own pattern and then went to marking it up on the latex and cutting it out.

Once I had done that it was a case of cleaning the seams I needed to glue, this was interesting because on normal garments you always put things right sides together but with latex garments your places wrong side to right side because you see the seam on the outside and it lays flat.

then waiting till that was dry (which is important)  then applying glue to those clean edges then letting them dry till tacky then attaching all your pieces together.

I do not recommend having long nails for this at all (I'm never usually one to have long nails but I just sorta let them grow up and I found attaching the garment together hard till I cut them with scissors cause you really need to be able to feel the garment more than look at it when binding it together.

It took me a whole day to make this beauty (with help)
But I finally made it, had a well-deserved pizza and chill afterward.

Now I'm on the hunt for sheets of latex to buy!
so I can make more things
Can't wait to make more latex things!!
